Definition of FAN FICTION : stories involving popular fictional characters that are written by fans and often posted on the Internet —called also fanfic, \-ˈfik\

FanFiction is getting a lot of attention these days. Certain books have opened up the “pull to publish” flood gates, as it were – whether people like it or not. 50 Shades of Gray is case in point.

Wattpad is famous for providing a site for writers to express their love for certain characters and story lines. Kindle World encourages authors to publish their fan fiction and give you the platform to do so.

But our question to you is- What fandom do you have a thing for?

If I were to pick one of my favorite authors I supposed I'd do Jude Deveraux Fan fiction with her Montgomery and Taggert characters.  But for this exercise I'm going outside the box.

Here's a little secret. I'm a HUGE Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Fan. Not the old 80's version. The new Nickelodean version (and I like it even more now that Jason Briggs is gone but he did do a great Leonardo).

Anyway, if you popped here on your own then go back and check out VERONICA FORAND's post.

Drum roll,, please. May I present my first attempt at fan fiction-

Mutant Turtle, Mutagen Man.

I can't believe I'd done it. It started out as a farce, a lark of an attempt to make my April O'Neill dream come. I simply wanted her to see me as the man I am on the inside instead of the mutant turtle I am on the outside.

I never thought it was really possible. But I'd spent a few minutes here, an hour there, tweaking and manipulating the Kraang mutagen and my DNA with different processes.  playing with science and evolution. I don't know how I knew that this batch would work when I'd disposed of countless others. It's not like I could test it on anything or anyone. Not that Mikey wouldn't totally go for it. He'd chug the brew back like a pizza flavored smoothie and swagger around carefree of any side affects or consequences. He was the one, after all, who drank a batch of mutigent I'd been messing with thinking it would make him ‘cool'. Having misread the label that said to ‘keep cool', his punishment was not only shell-acne but to eventually evolve into a giant zit that would eventually pop and end his time on this earth. It was that incident that showed me the formula for the concoction that sat before me. Calling me. My only hope is that once I drank it the consequences wouldn't be as dire as they'd been for Mikey.

What did I have to lose? Dignity was gone. April knows how I feel about her. But the more time she spent with Casey Jones the further she slipped from me. It's a lot to hope that she could fall for the thing that I am. Even if she's herself is a mutant. She just doesn't see that part. But she see's my part everyday and has to be reminded of my humanity.

Without further chicken- shit hawing, I slam back the elixir, chugging it all down without pause.

Then I waited.

And I waited some more.

I stared at my hands. Still green. Still turtle.

Despondent, I'd put my head on my desk and search my memory for the flaw in my recipe but all I can think about it how hope seems to like Casey Jones better and that my one dream of having April desire me will always be just beyond my reach.

The pain hit me high in the back and travelled downward at the speed of light. I arched and cried out, my arms felt as if they were aflame. But as quickly as it started it stopped and I'm filled with the sensation of being chilled. As if my blood is menthol and the soft air cooled it.

I fell to the floor and that's when I saw it. My skin was not green but an unfortunately pale white (perhaps from too much time in the science lab or fighting at night). Thankfully, all my muscles had remained. Gently, I pushed myself up from the floor and ran my hands down my human form. It was incredible.

Mind. Blown.

I ran to the mirror. I wanted to know what she'd see. Would I be good enough? My hair was dark, which is good because I think she likes dark haired guys. My eyes were green. I thought my features were pretty typical but I think Casey is pretty typical as well so maybe that would work for me.

Having prepared for this, hoping fate would lend me a hand, I purchased some clothes and set about finding a size that fit. Once dressed, I listened to the sounds of April and Sensei as they finished with her training. Any minute she would be banging on my door telling me she was ready to head home. We had a standing arrangement that someone always walk her home. Tonight was my night. The other were out getting pizza and looking for Kraang.

April banged on the science lab's door. “Donny, you ready?”

I put my mouth close to the door, “April. There's something I want to tell you. Show you. But you can't freak out.” I knew she'd freak out.

“Ugh, Donny. Seriously. After all we've seen. What could possible freak me out now.”

“I drank some mutagen,” I told her and heard her gasp through the steel door.

“You did what?” Her voice was low and lethal.

“It's ok. I'm ok. It'll be fine.” I hoped. Then I slid the door open a crack.

Her eye came into view and I stepped back. “April, “I said, “The mutagen I drank turned me into a human.”

Her hands came into view as she tried to wrench the door open. I held it firm. “I won't open the doors unless you promise not to freak out.”

“I can't promise that. But I do promise not to freak out until we're away from Master Splinter. Then I might freak out and kick your butt.”

I let go of the door and she slid them open. But only so far, just enough space to allow her to step into the lab.

She took one look at me and gasped, her hands covered her mouth, her eyes wide.

“What do you think?” I asked and tugged down the new henley shirt I'd bought, feeling self conscious in my new form.

“You're…You…Amazing,” she said with a shake of her head. “You're gorgeous.”

I guffawed even though I tried not too and briefly ducked my head, “You really think so?”

She would forever see me like this. She would know that under that green badass shell of mine was this human. Just like I knew under her human shell was a badass mutant.

“Holy crap, Donny. How long will this last?”

I shrugged.

“Well then, let's take you out on the town.” She held out her hand and I took it in mine, entwining our fingers.

“I'd rather just spent the evening with you,” I said. “I might only have this one night.”

“Let's make it count,” she said and followed her words with a lascivious wink.

If she wasn't holding my hand I'd pump my fist in the air.

Suck it, Casey Jones. Suck it.

Ok~ That's my story. I hope you liked it:-) It was so much fun to do.
